The 12th National Winter Games is slated to hand out a total of seven gold medals on its first day of competition on Wednesday. Ma Tong from Changchun team claimed the first gold in women’s individual ski jumping.

Ma Tong, considered to be the best women’s ski jumper in China and was able to leap to a best jump of 73 meteres and that distance, combined with her strong technique was enough for Ma to take the gold. Her teammate from the Changchun team, Li Xuerao took the silver while Liu Qi made it a Changchun sweep of the medals by earning the bronze.
